Training

 

Once Mackenzie Search and Rescue volunteers complete their Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) certification through the Justice Institute of BC, they are able to advance into specialized training, such as Rope Rescue, Avalanche, and Swiftwater Rescue, Tracking, and Team Leader (GSAR, Rope, Avalanche Rescue, Swiftwater).  These courses are paid for by the Emergency Management BC (EMBC), a branch of the Ministry of Justice, and travel costs and accommodation are reimbursed through the BC Search and Rescue Association (BCSARA) and Mackenzie Search and Rescue.
